NYC in less than 24 hours
Jared and I had the opportunity to go to NYC this past weekend without the kids. We left Friday evening and took the train into the city, and met up with my Aunt Miriam and Uncle Tony from Brooklyn. We had a very enjoyable dinner at Marseille and then we went to see Les Miserables in the Broadhurst theatre on Broadway.
On the way home we travelled through Times Square (which seems to get bigger and bigger every time I visit NYC)and then crashed in my aunt's brownstone in Brooklyn.
The next morning we got ready then went to Chinatown to get all kinds of souvenir/trinkets/junk. Then we headed up the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Here is a picture of me standing in front of the Met:
We also had to stop at a hot dog vendor:
and of course buy some GIGANTIC pizza by the slice.
When we were on one of our subway rides, we got to experience some of the unique people of New York City. Shortly after hopping on one of the subways, an elderly man in our car shouted out, "Ladies and gentlemen, for your listening pleasure!" Then proceeded to sing a song and tap his cane on the ground while another man did harmony. Afterwards he told everyone that he was out of work and was happy to accept spare change, came around the car with an empty hat then jumped to another car at the next stop.
And of course, here is Jared looking oh so cheerful as we barely got to our train back to New Jersey on time.
All in all it was a wonderful 22 hours spent.
