Blueberries!
Today we went to "The Berry Patch" (see www.theberrypatchonline.com) and picked lots of blueberries. Nineteen pounds to be exact. The kids were real troopers. Joseph picked lots of berries, Benjamin picked about 10 and then sat around in the shade of the blueberry bushes and Katelyn alternated between sitting in the stroller and being carried around by Jared and me in a baby backpack. We drank blueberry lemonade and let the kids play on a hay maze afterwards. It was a fun day, and I began thinking of all of the things I can make with blueberries. These are my two favorite blueberry recipes:
THE BEST BLUEBERRY MUFFINS
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 egg
1/3 cup milk
1 cup fresh blueberries
1/2 cup white sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup butter, cubed
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease muffin cups or line with muffin liners.
Combine 1 1/2 cups flour, 3/4 cup sugar, salt and baking powder. Place vegetable oil into a 1 cup measuring cup; add the egg and enough milk to fill the cup. Mix this with flour mixture. Fold in blueberries. Fill muffin cups right to the top, and sprinkle with crumb topping mixture.
To Make Crumb Topping: Mix together 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup flour, 1/4 cup butter, and 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon. Mix with fork, and sprinkle over muffins before baking.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until done.
BLUEBERRY CRISP
2 c. blueberries, rinsed
1 tbsp. lemon juice
3/4 c. oatmeal (quick cook kind)
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 tsp. cinnamon
dash salt
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Put blueberries in the bottom of a baking dish (a pie pan or square baking dish is fine). Coat the blueberries with lemon juice. In a separate bowl, mix oatmeal, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle over blueberries. Bake in oven for 30 minutes. Put a heaping helping into a bowl and top with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Because I have so many blueberries I need lots of ideas and recipes! If anyone would like to share their favorite blueberry recipes it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

It's not a recipe, but I love blueberry pancakes!! Enjoy those berries!!
Megan,
Sounds fun. What's the pricing like? I don't know though. Chris fed Ava almost a while pint of blueberries last week. You can imagine what her diapers looked like. (gross!)
Sounds super fun! I'm pretty sure we don't have anything cool like that in Utah.
Camie told me how to get on your blog.
Thank you for the blueberry recipes!
